About

Liverpool has the oldest African community in Europe and it’s important to celebrate the experiences of the African Diaspora. We want to celebrate our roots, culture and heritage, to inspire generations to dream, build and create. The aim is make our Black Presence visible, embed it into Liverpool’s cultural experiences, ensuring the city recognises the contribution Black people have made to cultural life in Liverpool.

My project Yore Lens on L8 (YLOL8) shared video films of life in Liverpool 8 from the late 1990’s to celebrate Black Arts & Culture. It exposed the need for a centralised online space, with links to a range of archive films and photographs showing Black life in Liverpool.
